Greetings from Damascus
We arrived here late last night due to a 2.5 hour border crossing between Jordan and Syria. The border was heaving with people, cars filled to the brim, taxis, lorries, trucks, cars with sofas on the top( I kid not!) and a general chaos ensued!
I am now sitting in the roof top garden of the Damascus Hostel- an eccentric little place with stairwells and balconies and an amazing rope ladder that allows you to climb over the city wall into the hostel. The staff are so friendly and there is a hedgehog and a rabbit walking around my feet. Sorry my last posts have no pictures but it is a little difficult. For some reason I can post comments on my blog but when I try to look at my blog or upload pics it says- ACCESS DENIED. I have just looked in my friendly Lonely planet and it informs me that Facebook and Youtube are blocked too. Apparently Reporters without Borders places Syria 154th out of 169th on its Worldwide Press Freedom Index. So you may have to wait for some pictures!
